About Chelsea
Chelsea is first and foremost passionate about helping empower others. Empowered to work through past or present hurt. Empowered to move through and overcome challenges. Empowered to grow and thrive. Empowered to live freely and authentically. She considers it a great honour to come alongside others as they journey through pain, vulnerability, and triumphs. She also is dedicated to promoting an environment of inclusivity, respect, and appreciation, affirming the dignity and value of all persons.
Chelsea has a PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia, and is a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. As a Registered Psychologist, she has completed extensive supervised clinical training and can provide psychological assessment and diagnosis of mental health conditions. She also holds a full-time appointment as a university professor of psychology and is actively engaged in research and teaching, alongside her clinical practice. This helps her state updated with current information and approaches—and she finds she is best able to help others heal and grow when she is continuing to grow herself. Making current research and evidence-based therapy accessible and relatable for people who may benefit most from it is a cornerstone of her practice.
Living in and relating to our body and self in a healthy way can be especially difficult in this day and age, given the countless messages and pressures we experience. Throughout our lifespan, a variety of experiences impact how we think about, feel about, and relate to our body and self, which in turn also often impact our relationships with others.
Chelsea draws upon emotion-focused and experiential, mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioural, and trauma-informed approaches to therapy. In concrete terms, she helps her clients to understand and improve the way they relate to their emotions, to their body, to their self, and to others. While she has training as a generalist and works with a variety of concerns (including depression, anxiety, self-harming behaviour, self-worth, identity, and interpersonal relationships), she has specialized training in the areas of disordered eating/eating disorders, embodiment, and body image issues. She also has specialized training and skills in providing sex therapy, working with a variety of sexual concerns including low sexual desire and desire discrepancies, sexual pain, and anxiety and shame related to sex and sexuality.

A life truly lived constantly burns away veils of illusion, burns away what is no longer relevant, gradually reveals our essence, until, at last, we are strong enough to stand in our naked truth.
